SPAIN DOES NOT ACCEPT “SURROGATE” BABIES FROM UKRAINE

Dozens of Spanish families several weeks (and in some cases several months) cannot leave Ukraine.
It is impossible to come back home because the consulate of Spain in Kiev refuses to give the Spanish citizenship to babies who were born in Ukraine from the surrogate mothers.
All the matter is that for obtaining citizenship of the kingdom the diplomatic mission has to confirm that the man really is the baby’s father. But just at this stage many families had problems.
Earlier paternity was established following the results of DNA examination. But in June changes were made to the European law on protection of personal data. The diplomatic mission says now that test contradicts this law.

The Spanish Foreign Ministry said that “the consulate is aware of current situation and tries to help affected people, explaining them requirements of the legislation and telling about alternative solutions”.
